About Robert Rudy
Mr. Rudy is the President and founder of Paradox Advisors, a consulting firm specializing in financial services, insurance, healthcare, strategy and technology.
Paradox focuses on helping organizations define strategy and manage the implementation of initiatives designed to improve efficiency or grow revenue.
Typical projects include product or marketing strategy, organizational design and change programs, alignment of technology plans to meet changing business requirements and customer-focused process improvement.Paradox clients include the largest life and property & casualty insurers, healthcare companies, software firms and financial service companies.
In 1999, Robert founded InsuranceNoodle, the most successful technology platform focused on business insurance, and the fastest growing insurance wholesaler in the US. The InsuranceNoodle network connects over 6,000 agents and brokers in 50 states with leading commercial insurers including AIG, Chubb, The Hartford, Safeco, St. Paul, Travelers and Zurich. Robert developed the business plan, oversaw IT development, and was the lead inventor of the firm’s patented technology and processes. He also led a fund raising process attracting over $12 million in capital, hired the management team and served as Chairman. The firm merged with XL Capital, acquired Insurance ViaNet and now employs over 80 people.
He also served as the Chief Strategy Officer at CNA, the nation’s second largest commercial insurer. There, he led the senior management team through a continuous review of product, distribution and technology strategy; resulting in a series of divestitures and the redeployment of capital to higher ROE lines of business. He was a key player in the management team that turned around the firm’s performance over a two year period.
Working for 11 years as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and A.T. Kearney, he gained extensive international experience, serving European insurers and banks while based in London. He was also the Chief Planning Officer at Provident Mutual Life in the mid 1980s.
His expertise includes the disciplined application of technology to sales, customer relationship management and core ‘back office’ functions in the insurance, healthcare and financial services industries – with a focus on achieving strategic objectives and bottom line results.
Robert earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA from the University of Notre Dame. His views on insurance and technology have been printed in Time Magazine, Crain’s Chicago Business, Business Insurance and other trade publications.
As a community leader, he served 4 years as chairman of the annual Michael Jordan golf tournament benefiting the Chicago Boy Scouts, raising over $400,000. He is currently the Assistant Scoutmaster at Troop 20 in Winnetka, Illinois and Chairman of the Chicago Chapter, National Association of Eagle Scouts.
